Sited on Western Boulevard in South Los Angeles, this affordable housing project provides much-needed housing for disadvantaged members of the community.
Not only does the project provide one-bedroom units, a community room, and landscaped open space, it also revitalizes an otherwise underutilized and uninviting streetscape. Architectural detailing, including recessed windows, metal guardrails, fiber-cement board accents, a custom main entry door, and decorative fencing, further enhances the quality, character, and overall appearance of the building. To respect the scale of the neighboring residences along the alley, the building massing steps down toward the rear of the site, creating a more sensitive transition to the surrounding single-family neighborhood. The project has been completed and is currently fully leased.
