Located in the western San Gabriel Valley of Southern California, Temple City was founded in 1923 by Walter P. Temple. Today, the city is a diverse, predominantly residential community with a strong East Asian cultural presence. To accommodate the needs of a growing dental practice, an existing clinic along Temple City Boulevard required a comprehensive renovation and expansion.

The building to be renovated retains much of its original 1950s modern architectural character. Over subsequent decades, however, a series of partial renovations introduced elements that conflicted with the building’s original design language. This renovation seeks to revive and reinterpret its historic character through the thoughtful insertion of contemporary architectural elements. The project encompasses both the street-facing façade and the interior renovation of the existing dental clinic.
On the exterior, a new homogeneous steel skin provides a refined backdrop for building signage while transforming the outdated façade with a contemporary architectural expression. Within the interior office areas, translucent glass partitions allow light to permeate the space and create a greater sense of openness. In the procedure rooms, custom multi-purpose cabinetry consolidates functional requirements into integrated modules, creating an environment defined by clarity, efficiency, and visual order.
